Teeth and Roll!!
Well, the little man broke ground on his first teeth yesterday and decided to roll-over for dad this morning. It is hard to believe he is already 4.5 months old. It is harder to believe he has teeth and is rolling over. I have never been a nostalgic baby lover, but this little guy has me whipped. I was actually bummed to see those first teeth come in, and just kept thinking how I didn't want him to grow up. His dexterity and coordination is moving along quickly, and I now look into his eyes curious about who he is to become, and not who he is. Obviously, as a father, all priorities in life fall second to the successful raising of your progeny. To be a key contributor in developing the lens' and filters through which he will view the world, and the forming of his critical thinking skills is an both and honor and a burden. This little guy will be a reflection of me, and remembering this fact will help me become a better man each day. As parents, our priorities are made clear. The emotional vicissitudes will remain, but the logical and loving exterior will be his guiding light. I miss the newborn I knew in the hospital, I long for the infant that couldn't hold his own bottle, I pain for baby that relied on me to flip him over; but, I am on joyous baited breath to see just who it is looking at me from behind those huge, curious eyes.

Day 1
Day 1 went as expected. Tired, confusion, calm, chaos, amazement, and joy. The little guy arrived at 3:46pm. He seems to have the Kennedy eyes, but the nose appears to be all Dougherty. He is struggling with drinking from the fountain thus far, but is managing alright. So, now we are relaxing in the room, trying to figure out the rules of the game, and changing all the pads and diapers that go with it.
The Abridged Version
Well, it has taken me the last six hours to try and get this up and running again. Stacy started to nave contractions last night at midnight, and was up all night and morning. We went to her doctor this morning and were sent directly to the hospital. She was told she could finally start to rest about 11:00am, but the baby's heart rate started acting up 10 minutes later. The nurses came in, checked her, and found the Baby had descended almost entirely in about an hour. They did some repositioning, and she was finally able to sleep for about a half hour. She has since been repositioning and is resting. Actually, the nurses just came in and said we are ready to go.
